Tracking Property Issues from Discovery to Resolution
A big part of home watch is catching problems early: a slow leak under a sink, a tripped breaker, storm damage on a roof. Finding the problem is only half the job, though. The other half is making sure it actually gets fixed and never falls through the cracks. The Issues section gives every problem its own record, from the moment it is discovered to the day it is closed.
An issue is a problem at a specific property. It carries a severity and moves through a clear lifecycle: Open, In Progress, Resolved, and Closed. This guide covers both ways to create an issue, how to set severity, how to move issues along, how to clear a batch at once, and how each issue keeps its own visit history.

Two ways to create an issue
Flagged from a checklist during a visit. This is the most common path. While completing a visit, your tech can flag a checklist item and add notes about what they found. When the visit is completed, that flag automatically becomes an issue. If an open issue already exists for the same problem at that property, the new visit is added to it instead of creating a duplicate, so a recurring leak builds one continuous history rather than ten scattered records.
Created manually. You can also log an issue directly:
- Open the Issues section and click Create Issue.
- Fill in the Title (required) and an optional Description.
- Choose a Severity, pick the Property it belongs to, and optionally assign it to a team member.
- Submit. The issue is created as Open, with you recorded as the reporter.
How to set severity
Every issue carries one of four severity levels: Low, Medium, High, or Urgent. You set it when you create or edit an issue, and it shows as a color-coded badge on both the list and the detail page. Severity makes it easy to scan your list and triage what needs attention first, and you can filter the whole Issues page by it.
How to move an issue through its lifecycle
Open any issue and you will see an Actions card showing only the moves that make sense from its current status.
- Open can move to In Progress, Resolved, or Closed.
- In Progress can move to Resolved or Closed.
- Resolved can be Closed or Reopened.
- Closed can be Reopened if the problem comes back.
Each button asks you to confirm. Marking an issue Resolved or Closed stamps the time it happened, and reopening clears those timestamps so the record always reflects the latest cycle.

How to bulk-close issues
When you have knocked out a batch of problems, you do not have to close them one at a time.
- On the Issues list, tick the checkboxes next to the rows you want to clear, or use the header checkbox to select everything.
- A bulk-action bar appears. Click Close Selected and confirm.
Every selected issue that is not already closed is closed in one go, and you can still reopen any of them individually later.
Seeing the visit history behind an issue
Because flagged issues link back to the visits that surfaced them, each issue's detail page shows a Visit History: every visit where the problem was observed, along with the notes from each one. That gives you a clear paper trail of when a problem first appeared, how it progressed, and what was done about it, which is exactly the kind of accountability your clients appreciate.
